France has its “Route du Vin”, Germany its “Weinstrasse”, and Scotland “The Whisky Trail”; likewise the Limfjord Land has its “Schnapps Route”.

The Schnapps Route turns and twists through varying landscapes with scenting herbs and berries, which are used to give a flavour to the schnapps, through old market towns with schnapps traditions, passing castles, manors, inns, and ruins of old monasteries, where recipes for schnapps have been passed on from generation to generation.
With a view of the fjord and the sea the Route passes by a large number of the historic sights of the Limfjord Land, cultural experiences, and family- friendly attractions. Everywhere there is the possibility of making a detour into the unspoilt nature and enjoying it for free.
On the Schnapps Route everybody, who is interested, can learn to make schnapps for themselves. All the good bushes, trees, and berries can be found in the landscape; from the small sea wormwood and the bushy sea-buckthorn of the dunes to the yellow bedstraw, yarrow, and St John's wort of the open landscapes. From juniper berries, raspberries, and rowan berries of the woods to the resin-scented, sweet gale of the moors and the diversity of berries of the heaths such as crowberries, blueberries, and cowberries.
