The Limfjord harbours as gathering points
|
|
Historically, man and beast met in the Limfjord harbours and exchanged goods and news. Netværk Limfjorden has outlined the vision for the Limfjord harbours that - on these historical grounds - they shall become one of the future gathering points for the local population as well as the tourists.

Therefore, Netværk Limfjorden has initiated a development project, ending in the middle of 2011, which focuses on the Limfjord harbours, and which points out initiatives in and around the harbours that will contribute significantly to the combined efforts of promoting the Limfjord Land.

The first step was the holding of a conference in Skive on the 26th of November 2009, which gathered more than 70 interested parties from harbours, municipalities, regions, tourist organisations and tourism businesses, and which among other things consisted of a brainstorming givning a number of good inputs for the development project.
The project concentrates on three themes, which focus on the harbours and on the connections between sea and land. For each theme, a working party is set up with a coordinator from Netværk Limfjorden:
Working party 1: The harbours as service and information points
Working party 2: The harbours as the base for promotion of the the history and the culture of the Limfjord land
Working party 3: The harbours as attractions on their own
One of the results of the project has been a catalogue with a number of ideas which has been published in Danish in May 2011.

Two "bonus projects"
Parallel to the main project two additional "bonus projects" will be carried out which each of them are related to the three themes.
The first one consists of a profiling project which brings all the marketing activities and efforts of Netværk Limfjorden together, and the second one focuses on "Info-spots in the harbours" and is thus an umbrella over a number of activities that all focus on "self service information" and the use of modern techology in the harbours.
