The harbour is the heart of Nykøbing. Founded in 1788, it was the first harbour in the western part of the Limfjord. It is a place swarming with life: mussel fishing boats, large coasters from home and abroad, and lots of skiffs and yachts. You may watch the crabs at the mouth of the river and the beautiful buildings from the time when the ferries crossed the Sallingsund.
Mondays at 2 pm., approx. 1 hour.
The history of Nykøbing Mors is extremely old. The Vikings were here, and in 1299 the town is mentioned for the first time at the King's command. When participating in this Limfjord Tale you walk from Morsland’s Historical Museum through the town with many small stops at buildings of interest, on the squares, and at other places where there is a good story to tell about both the distant and the near past.
Thursdays at 11 am., approx. 1 hour.
Limfjord Tale no. 27 - King Frederik VII Canal
This Tale is a guided cruise on the King Frederik VII Canal where you can hear
the exciting story about the creation of the canal. The area around Løgstør has always been a central traffic junction of the Limfjord. The opening of the 4.4 km long canal in 1861 eased the east-west fraffic that had been hampered by sandbanks and the low water of the Løgstør bay. Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays at 11 am and 2 pm, approx. 2 hours.
